Nissan Altima manuals have clearly specified every critical aspect of their car designs – including the bolt pattern.

But in case you have lost your manuals  – or cannot access them for whatever reason – no worries; our inclusive article will guide you through the detailed Nissan Altima bolt patterns and essential wheel characteristics of all model series.

What Is The Lug Pattern for Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima lug pattern for all models before 2001 is 4×114.3 or 4×4.5. However, starting in 2002, the brand changed the wheel lug pattern to 5×114. 3 or 5×4.5. So with the same diameter, the number of lug nuts increased from 4 to 5.

Why Did Nissan Change From 4-Lug to 5-Lug Wheels?

As Nissan models are getting heavier and more sophisticated, the brand changed to 5-lug patterns to handle better pressure and offer optimal performance.

Still, the 4-lug versions have their own advantages: they are much cheaper to produce and suffer less unsprung load.

How to Measure The Bolt Pattern Nissan Altima

Measure the gap between the center spots of 2 adjacent bolt holes to figure out the pattern’s diameter. For 4-lug models, choose two bolt holes at opposite sides. And for 5-lug, calculate the distance from one center bolt to another hole across it (at the farthest edge).

Are All Nissan Lug Wheel Bolt Patterns The Same?

No. Aside from the collection of wheels for the Nissan Altima (4 x 4.5 and 5 x 4.5), we have Nissan Sentra, Versa (4 x 3.94), Nissan Pathfinder, Frontier (6 x 4.5 and 6 x 5.5), and Nissan Titan, Armada (6 x 5.5).

Conclusion

After years of sticking with the 4-lug pattern, Nissan decided to upgrade their Altima bolt fitment to 5-lug – a decision strongly welcomed by most Nissan enthusiasts.

Since all Altima 5-lug models have the exact same pattern, one can easily guess its diameter without checking the manual or taking out a measuring tape. Still, if you feel unsure about the key wheel dimensions/ wheel diameter, contact us or Nissan’s support team.
