Ford is among automobile brands with the most diverse bolt patterns; as such, it is natural for Ford Ranger drivers to wonder where their cars’ lug pattern lands within such a vast spectrum.

My detailed guide on the Ford Ranger lug pattern will answer that question for you in an instant. Keep scrolling!

What Is Ford Ranger Lug Pattern

Except for Facelift II (2010) and Facelift III (2004, 2010), all Ford Ranger models from 2002 onwards have a bolt circle measurement of 6 x 139.7 or 6 x 5.5. Pre-2002 cars, on the other hand, arrived with a 5 x 114.3 (5 x 4.5) lug pattern.

Why Did Ford Ranger Change From 5-Lug to 6-Lug Models?

5-lug wheels use traditional rear leaves, while 6-lug leaves are flatter with zero arches. Hence, the latter manifests better, less-bouncy rides that most Ford drivers from European markets fall in love with.

Still, 5-lug’s performances are impressive on their own, which explains why Ford Ranger occasionally returns to them (evident in 2010 Facelift II and 2010 Facelift III).

Can I Change My Ford Ranger’s 5-Lug Pattern to 6-Pattern?

Yes, you can do it with wheel adapters commonly distributed in American markets. Yet, there are no guarantees that these changed patterns can perform as well as an original 6-lug design.

Worse, you may risk messing up the car’s suspension and tread life. It would be better to err on the safer side and keep things as they are.

Conclusion

The lug pattern Ford Ranger in the domestic market has consistently been 6-lug since 2002, though the brand does occasionally return to its old 5-lug Ranger models.

Think twice before changing your 5-lug configuration to 6-lug or vice versa; messing up the tire assembly of your vehicle models does more harm than good.
